New to the coilovers, so here goes somewhat stupid question. I recently installed a set of coilovers, 8kg front and 6kg rear. Spent sometime to adjust the height and this is what I have now. I can barely sticky 2 fingers front and back, so let's say I have 1.5 inch wheel gap. My front wheels will hit fender or inside wheel well cover if I go over mild bumps(not speed bumps) on the street? I'm asking you this because I don't want to figure it out hard way. I rather hear it from someone with experience. Should I raise my car little bit like half an inch, so make it 2 inches wheel gap? I also replaced wheel well covers with new ones, so I don't to tear them apart or damage fenders. BTW, I have 235/4017 tires on 17x8 +38 w/5mm spacers.

what kind of coilovers do you have? what is your dampening set at? is the tire flush with the fender? how much camber are you running? those factors can help figure out it you will rub. you can also get your fenders rolled/pulled in the front if you are worries. and remove the wheel well liner.

what kind of coilovers do you have?--> I have Stance GR+ Pro.

what is your dampening set at? --> I set dampening at 7 all the way around.

is the tire flush with the fender? --> Believe it or not. Yes. If tire moves up vertically, it looks like it'll hit the fender right away.

how much camber are you running? --> I set at 0 on camber plate now. I might give little of minus camber. I know that I still have to get alignment done later.

you can also get your fenders rolled/pulled in the front if you are worries. --> That I don't want to do. I just want decent setup that won't hurt my car.

and remove the wheel well liner--> I'd like to keep it. Heard that your door jam and fender area get filled with sand and dust pretty quick.

I don't want to go for 'extreme' look that can hurt my car, just nice drop and decent performance are what I'm looking for. What I'm wondering is how much my tire will travel if it hits the bump...

well i have KTS with the dampening set on 0 with a 18X8 +30 wheel and my coils don't touch the wheel well at all, you should be fine, but take it slow, if the bump is big go around it or go slow. it will take a while to get used to. and the tire won't move EXACTLY straight up, it will camber in toward the car slightly tucking.... hopefully

oh and get an alignment before you need new tires

Thanks. That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Looking nice is good, but it's not my first choice. I also got a new set of 615s, so need to get alignment done ASAP.

id say you probably wouldnt want to go much lower, or youd really have to worry about it

btw, negative camber is good, the car comes stock with a bit (-1 ish) and youd probably want to run around that for those wheels, maybe a tad more...

btw, run your coilovers at 0 on the street, then switch to higher settings when you go to the track, itll extend the life of your dampers a LOT

That's what I figured. I don't want to remove fender liner, tuck wires and stuff... I played with my setup Saturday and 2 finger gap worked just fine. When I jack up the car, I can use diff for the back, but for the front, I have to get up on 2x4 to slide floor jack in.

Funny thing is because of the sway bar, my car won't go down as I intended. What I meant is... if I drop driver's side 15mm, passenger side height will change and won't stay same as before. It was pretty annoying in the beginning, but kinda figured it out after a couple of tries. I had bad lean to driver's side(more than half inch lower), so I was very anal about adjusting the rear end height. It seats perfectly even now and I'm so happy.

Oh!! I took off the wheels like 10 times and got the perfect height. 2 finger gap(very tight) front and back. Drove around and it seems to be perfect for the road condition where I live. Not too low, not too high just about right. I have exact same wheel gap front and rear. I measured from ground to frame and rear was tad bit higher. That's okay with me. Stance coilover is not bad at all for daily driving... I was VERY impressed.

Tight 2 finger gap looks very nice. It was so tempting to go lower, but I had to stop. Yeah, your car will look very nice once you lower it more.
