when the last winter started i had removed my "RAD FAN LO" relay for reasons too confusing to explain... all winter long i didnt have any problems with my car overheating, but all the sudden last night i was idleing in my driveway in my S14 after a long night of driving and my radiator began to boil and overheated.... i was wondering if its cause the relay isn't in the connected? it just started getting warm here in jersey also.... im going to put the relay back in tomorrow but i just wanted to know if im not looking at something bigger like the thermostat or the water pump... lemme know wassup NICO.... :werd: ?

although the answer may be simple, i dont think its "common sense" considering i've been daily driving (and daily IDLEING) my car for months and months and my car has never overheated... ALSO i left the "RAD FAN HI" relay connected so i used "common sense" and thought that the fan was working.... so i guess my real question is whats the difference between RAD FAN HI and RAD FAN LO relays? when do these relays engage? sorry i couldnt use common sense to figure it out... :poke:

Low fan kicks in at a lower temp, ie probably the cause of your problem. Its designed to prolong the life of the fan to my knowledge but yes, the high and low fan speeds kick on at different temperatures. to put your mind at ease about the sudden change, my fans don't kick on I think EVER in the winter time. Oem thermostat and koyo radiator for me is plenty and usually never see about 190° unless I've been sitting for a long time and by then my fans would kick on.

Common sense, your car will run cooler in winter. Fix your rad fan lo relay problem. Based off your current post I bet it isnt really that confusing...
