I have a 95 zenki with a redtop in it. I don't have an aluminum welder, and can't find a shop that has one around here anywhere. I need to put a recirc nipple on my aluminum intake pipe. Will JB weld hold the steel nipple onto the aluminum piping, or not? Any other ideas as to how to hook up my recirc hose to the intake? Thanks....

Is this before or after the turbo? By "recirc" I assume you mean EGR(exhaust gas recirculation), correct me if I'm wrong...

I've had nothing but success using JB Weld in a few key situations, however without doing exactly what you want to do, I can not say that it will work. Its worth a try. Dont use the "quick weld" and let it set for the required time (24 hours or so).

No, it's for my blow off valve. My car idles bad, and stutters when it's venting to atmosphere. I need to recirculate the bov air back into the intake pipe, basically just exactly how the stock setup was, just with much better quality aluminum pipes.

Yeah, I've used jb weld alot on steel and exhaust systems with no problems at all. Just dont' know if it will work on other metals, like aluminum, copper, etc. Guess I'll find out tommorrow!

it'll probably hold, but consider this - if for some reason that bond fails, do you really want fragments of JB weld get sucked into your engine? : P get it welded - at least you won't have to worry about it. good luck

does work wonders on small non essential fixes, however yours needs more then some glue to hold it reliably. get it welded

Weld it, I did. Cost me about $35, but well worth it.

You could go to home depot and find a threaded pipe to act as the inlet pipe on your intake. this would negate the need for JB weld. Just dril a hole on your intake pipe and then screw the threaded pipe onto your intake and then seal it off with some silicone sealant on the outside.

That's not a bad idea....the jb weld didn't hold more then an hour. It cracked and there's just a slight leak. I want to get it welded, but have yet to find anyone in town with an aluminum welder. They only do steel and exhausts.

call around, if they don't do it, ask them if they can direct you to someone who can TIG.

How long did you let it cure? JB Weld could be considered a temporary fix. for it to have a more solid hold, you'd need to remove the part you wish to use it on, and clamp the two parts together. it really needs at least 24 hours to cure properly. i've used JB Weld on many different kinds of metals, and there are a multitude of variances that could or could not allow it to bond. it'll hold tight, as a "glue", but for filling in holes it's not very good. on top of letting it cure longer, and clamping it, it'll be more likely to hold if you create scratches on the two objects, where you're going to "weld" them together, so it has a better grip on them. it's not so useful on polished, or just plain smooth, objects.
