I found a motor with about 118K on it, he said it started before the ECU fried, and the motor has been sitting there for 3-6 months. I want to get it but my pops told me not to because it won't start, pfft so he wants me to get my current one rebuilt which has bent valves, and probally more stuff damged on it...what should i do?

How many miles does your engine have on it?? if it's only the ECU that's fried go get one from a junk yard for $10 and try it out... how much is the guy asking for this thing? I have seen SR20DETs go for as little as $1000 before but you can find them everywhere for $2000 why not do a swap?

The motor originally came out of a 240 but he swapped the motor into a Pickup, he's asking for 150.

My friend gave me an estimate on completely rebuilding my current motor and he roughly estimated 600-1000.

I wish i can find a full swap SR20 for 1000 in Louisiana, barely any people got SR20 swaps laying around.

i guess if oyu want to be sure that it will start. check your plugs and wires, make sure that all the fluids are there and at their proper level. get a fresh new battery(or a good charge on your old one. before you try to start it and see if the motor spins freely. (use a breaker bar, ive seen to many friends break wratchets) if it doesnt then put a little bit of oil in the cylinders and let it sot for a little bit. and then try again.
