Anything will fit if you have enough $$$ and time.

The SR20 has been done so you have a very high chance of success if you go that route. An RB would have the element of being different.....

Ultimimately you should balance out the cost of the engine, transmission and all the time it would take to install either engine. It's your money after all bro!

What do you really want this truck to do?

Here's the RB20DE

RB25DET

RB26DETT

And my fav the SR20DET done to the nines!

You say you know your way around the SR. IMHO, if you want any kind of power and are planning on sticking with a 4 banger then stick with what you know. The Red Top SR20DET is a natural fit. The RB's are nice but lesser known in the application you are considering.

I'm sure the parts for the SR are more readily available as well. There are also more power-up options on the SR engine. IE bolt on turbos, exhausts, electrical systems...the list goes on and on. I happen to have a bit of an obsession for the SR20, well more of an appreciation really. Such a versatile engine and it will go into just about FWD, RWD and 4WD Nissan out there.
