i am having trouble with the starter. rb20 by the way! it will not turn over at all from the key switch, and when i cross it over from the starter all it does is spin. am i doing something wrong? do i not have something hooked up right. i have followed all the diagrams that i could find. the only one i do not have done right is the under the dash wiring and i can not for the life of me find a wiring diagram for that. is someone could take a photo or write down all the wiring colors (what goes to what) i would appreciate it. would it be that my starter is not ground good enough or something? i took it to autozone and the could not test starter because they do not have the code for it. if anyone has that also i could use it! thanks in advance!shawn franklin

your starter is probably working fine. if you REALLY think its dead an auto store will be able to test any starter. just tell the guy to F off and use the machine yourself.

you can also test it by giving the main terminal and the solenoid +12 off some jumper cables and grounding the starter body.

are you sure you have everything wired correctly?

getting the starter to turn is the most basic part of the wiring. you dont even need an ecu to turn the starter over.

i think people arent replying because its one of those "figure it out" questions.

Starters are pretty basic. They only need a power source, the housing is grounded to itself on the starter so you CAN'T screw that up. The only thing is getting the signal wire to fire the solenoid and engage the flywheel. Look through the FSM for your 240 and find the starter wiring diagram and go from there. If you KNOW the wiring is correct, then take it to the shop and have them test it. Put a boot in their *** if they give you grief, it's just laziness.

Hey we got it fixed, but now we are having problems with the wiring to the ignitor and the coils. Where is the best wiring diagram for this. Possibly color coded? Thanx.

How did you wire up the starter? Im not sure as to where the starter solenoid wire goes as it was cut on my motor set. I know it need a switched on +12V source but where should it be going?
