I am tryong to help my son find a cheaper and better snow tire option for his recently acquired 2003 350z Touring. With snows the narrower the better. Will 16" steel wheels that fit a 2003 Infiniti G35 sedan fit his Z. So far My research shows they are the same platform, bolt pattern, center hub size, and Rock Auto shows the same rotors and calipers. Tirerack has steel wheels for a 2003 Infinit sedan and snows for about 1/2 the price of 17" 350z alloys and snows. The 205/60/16 diameter is right between the stock 350z front and rear tire diameters. Has anyone tried this? Is the a reason they WOULDN'T fit? I did a search or two and couldn't find an answer.
Thanks

A lot depends on what callipers you have fitted. If you have the Brembo's then chances are these will foul on the rims, I'm not sure how big the standard callipers are and whether these will foul but its something you need to find out before you do anything.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, but please check the entire post. The car has standard brakes, and according to Rockauto's website, the same calipers and rotors fit both the 350z and the G35 sedan in 2003. They SHOULD fit, I'm looking for someone with real world experience on this one. I want to be dead sure before I order the wheels and tires

I ordered a set of 16" steel wheels for an 03 g35 sedan and 215/60 snow tires from tirerack and put them on my son's 350z touring. Perfect fit, no fouling, $39 a wheel, about $100 per tire. If you have to drive your z in the snow, this is the most cost effective way to go. DO NOT try this with Brembo calipers

Glad to know they fit. What tires did you go with? Also, has the CDC given you any problems with the odd sized tires?

I went with Dunlop Winter Maxx. I picked the 215/6 for the roling diameter closest to the stock Z front tires. Tire racks reccomended tire was a bit taller, 205/65 I think, but that would have worked as well. I just hit the tire rack site, punched in the 2003 Infiniti G35, selected the winter tires I wanted, hit "keep shopping" and selected the steel wheels. Modern snows from a reputable company are all pretty good, so brand doesn't matter that much. Nebraska isn't the land of snow, but we do get our share, and I've driven everything from MG Midgets and Mk1 Rabbit Gtis to BMW M3s and Porsche 911s year round with snows, and get around in anything that doesn't leave me high centered. The 350z actually looks pretty good with the black steel wheels, my son is thinking about painting his summer wheels black after seeing how they look.
