I am planning on using a 15x7 wheel with a +1 offest on a 1991 240SX. My question is what size tire will fit on it (???/55/15) and will I need to get fender flares? I am pretty sure with the offset the wheels will clear coilovers.

why would you use such a low offset? thats rediculous. its going to put far too much leverage stress on the hub, not to mention wear the hell outa the inside edges of the tires.-chetmy advice, dont even put those ON.

I see your point, I guess I'll go with +23 with a tire size 215/60-15. Thanks!

+ 23 will still not be correct, but is better than +1

I though with a rear wheel drive car low to negative offset would be better?

i would think so too, but apparently not. i like deep dish, but i guess it has to be really deep on the other side too.

chet,is +1 reall all that low? i am no susp guru like yourself. i am an engine guy. according to my knoledge of offset it should be right in the middle almost right? is that not cool for the hubs?

not when you realise the stock offset is +40. thats extending the lever(weight of the wheel, etc) nearly 2 inches out...a very bad things for the hub, and suspension geometry.-chet

hmm, makes sense. i have heard blanket statements like, "just stay below +40 and its all good". that can be kind of misleading. what is the lowest you would go?

that depends on wheel width, car mods, and other things. To be honest, theres no reson to take the offset below +20, even with a pretty wide wheel(8" or so) otherwise its gonna put a lot of strain on the hub.-chet

Would you be able to fit a coilover system on a car with 16X8 or 17x8 wheel with around +20 offset?

Hyb Force Soldier:

Give me your email-address, I could send you the little spread sheet that I made several months agos. You could calculate the distance from hub and some more stuffs.

I currently use 15x7 +27 offset watanabe RS8 with 3.1 degrees of camber, sometime 15x6.5 SSR dori dori with +16 offset, tire is about flush with front fender. For a fact, my friend uses 15x7 SSR longchamp with +11 offset it still fits inside the fender but with about -3.5 degrees of camber though.

Unless you prefer " pure drifting style setup" with -5 more camber (Well, anthing more than 4 is just for show) Your 15x7 with 1 offset would fit. I've also seen people use 15x7.5 with -5 offset wheels, still fits with about -7 degrees of camber !!

Guess, you probably have to give it up. For a quick reference, 6.5 " rim the minimum offset is about +10.7" wheels is about +15 offset. Again with 3 degrees of camber though.

As for tires, with 15" you could use 205/55/15 (more options but relatively small than standard size), or standard 205/60/15.(ES100 kind of top choice, in my experience)some people use 205/50/15 which is about 7 % less in total diameter. Yeah, you get more torque but loose some contact surface PLUS looks so weird.......BTW, you might try to roll your fenders then see how it goes.Well, that's about it.

Hey Peter

Thanks for the reply. My e-mail is [email protected]I am thinking of switching to my idea to 16x7-7.5 because with that I'll have a wider range of tire selection. I have also researched tire information and the AVS ES100's seem to be the best (maybe only) choice for the stock sizing. Haha, my friend has Longchamps on his Hachiroku, they look way better than his stock wheels. What would the process of rolling feners do? I'm just thinking if the tire get's too big and wide (power issues) after on in a planned SR swap down the road I'll just go and buy JUN AUTO Fender Flares. Thanks again.

Hmm, I wonder how much power I need to lay down to slip with Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3? Haha. Also, Grant, your from TireRack aren't you? What does the SL Load Rating mean?

standard load.

uhm, the spacing calculator is in the FAQ.-chetyes a +20 in a 8" wide wheel will clear coilovers.
