Will destroking an engine change anything with the cams?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

the simplest way of stating it, by a governing equation, is as follows, right out of my diesels and tractors book:

displacement of a cylinder = V1-V2

where

V2= clearance volume, which is the cylinder volume when the piston is at HDC

V1=volume of cylinder at CDC

I use HDC rather than TDC, because not all of our engines are oriented vertically, and top might actually be sideways.

thank you for explaning it better. i always forget the equations, but understand the stuff so i do it off the top of my head

see, when were taking about serious subject matter, i put up educated input, and try to help people out. [in general chat] look how mad they get when you make fun of them. its funny to start firestorms, then watch the name calling start, then explode when you go over the top with retaliation.hahahahahahahahaha, im sorry if it makes me look like an *******, but i get a kick out of it.

yeah, i dont ever remember equations. i stand corrected. i was thinking max cyl volume and cyl disp were the same. i promise im not a doofus. it was a brainfart. for some reason i wasnt thinking of (bore)*(stroke)*(no. of cyls). changing rod length would change max cyl volume but not disp. so we agree about that and i was wrong. when i think about it, just increasing max cyl volume would not be entirely usefull as the combustion chamber would increase at a much greater rate. that would certainly kill static comp ratio. i also like to chime in on certain technical discussions and correct people who are full of crap. i have learned more than once now that i really should check the books and stop shooting from the hip. i believe eswift prob remembers when i was talking about vtc and for some reason i had its operating principle all mixed up. i guess i take for granted that i have a service manual at work so when i am at home i just try to remember everything off the top of my head. thanks for correcting my false logic.

after all the bible says, "whoever loves discipline loves knoledge, but he who hates correction is stupid."proverbs 12:1

no problem, i love learning new stuff, sharing knowlege.if there something i dont know, by all means i want to learn it, and if someones not right, it better to let them know, than have them go on thinking somethings right when its not. puzzles are a lot easier to solve when you have your pieces in order.its just when people start getting stupid, then i like to fuel the fire.

haha yeah i remember the vtc, but we all forget things,

for me, its basic math.

without my calculator I am a completely mathematically useless humon.

never learned my addition, sub, mult, div tables.every time I do anything in my head, its by counting sequentially.

funny i chose engineering, isnt it.

tell me about it, i seriously screwed school up because it was boring. i like to learn things on my own. i remember not paying attention, failing out of high school english class, while reading the spec sheet on a cmos logic IC. cutting other classes so i could go teach the auto shop class while the teacher had to do something else. passing chemistry physics and all the tech classes with 90+ while failing the rest, just to drop out and get a 3540 out of 3600 on my ged. school sucks. thats why i just take specialized courses at my local college to get certifications that i can actually use to get a job when im done. i have my CDL so i can drive untill i finish all my courses and get a tech job...

its so funny how when you were in highschool, the only thing you wanted to do was get out, and once your in the real world, you realize how those were the best times and now your screwed.
