will an89 240 5speed transmission and a 90 vg30de

I have an 89 240 and a 90 300zx auto transmission N/A. I want to swap the vg30 into my 89 240. I want to keep the 5 speed will it bolt to the vg30, if not what has to change?

no. The transmission for the for cyl wont bolt up to a six cyl engine. The trans needs to be changed.

why dpnt you go to the wreaking yard and pick up a manual for the z???

will a Z31(89 older) work or will it have to be out of a Z32. Will I still beable to use my 240's clutch cylinder and lines or will everything have to be switched and is there enough room in the transmission tunnel.

you want to use the transmission from a z32. the tt and na use the same trannies. the difference is that the starter is placed slightly more outboard on the tt to accomodate the larger flywheel.

the z32 trannies are larger than the ka transmission and may require some trans tunel massaging. the shifter linkage will need to be extended, the mount will need to be modified, and the driveshaft will need to be modified with the z32's larger output yoke.

you will also need the z32 slave cylinder, and possibly master.

while everything is out, its a good idea to replace the hardlines, and switch the rubber hose for some braided stainless.

can I use my drive shaft from my 90 Z for the larger yoke? I 'll measure the tunnel because at a glance they look alike.

yes, if the driveshaft you have now is for a manual, then it will work.

im pretty sure the yoke for the auto and manual are different.

see if the shaft you have now will engage the manual trans.

my 240 is a manual I'll see if the Z auto and my 240 manual are even close, because I don't have the manual Z transmission yet.
