Im doing a manual swap and my friend has a transmission off a SOHC, 90 I think, and I was wondering if I'll have any problems matching them up. My car is a 92. I was looking at the clutch kits for sale and some say from 89-98 which would lead me to believe it should fit but then some other clutch kits have seperate years 89-90, 95-98. I have searched the posts archived and all but I only found one with any info on this but it was kinda vague. Thanks in advance for any definitive answers!

as far as lining up goes they are the same but I believe the 91+ transmissions has a plug or something of the sort on it, that the 89-90 does not have. the clutch kits are the same. I know for sure if there is a difference it is the housing.can someone verify my info please.

yes. the transmission will bolt up. The wiring harness however will need to be fixed or nothing will work as the sohc plugs are different from the dohc.

dont do it! ur car will never be the same. leave it the hell alone. find a dohc transmission then change it. i know this cause a friend of mine ruined his 240 thinking it would work.

Thanks for the post based on facts. since I dont believe him and his fearful approach to machines, I think I will try it. lol Another question I would like to pose is: What of the ingition/park lock with the auto? how do I go about canceling that? of course I'm sure I could find something by searching, just thought I'd throw the question out there since this thread is already going.
