NO it shouldnt, im tellin you bro, did you have your dude check the EGR...? heres what you do... You know where the EGR valve is, well idle the car and slowly raise up the throttle (no more than 2000 RPM)... if you feel right under the hat of the EGR valve, as you raise the RPMs just slightly 1500-2000 RPM, you should feel it move, like its slowly pumping up and down... If it doesnt do that, then you have a vacuum leak or more likely maybe one of your solenoids is bad.... If it does do something, then the EGR temp sensor is probably bad (the EGR is working but the computer doesnt think its working)

My gas mileage is roughly 20MPG... I dont get the 22 i used to in my old Q, probably because this high stall rebuilt one is less efficient than stock, oh well!!!! I hate automatic trannies anyway!

call me if you want to discuss, and BTW did you get the stickers?

there are 2 things, the EGR valve and the BPT valve, not sure what the BPT valve does.....

Youll see a metal pipe coming up on the rear part of the drivers side valve cover... it comes up from the exhaust manifold, and makes a bend right into the EGR valve, which then bolts right inot the plenum, that is the EGR valve.... feel up underneath it... you should be able to press up on it and the engine will almost die.... make sure that happens.. then raise the idle (you can do it right there on the throttle body) and see if you feel the diaphram moving a little bit on its own.... let me konw what it does...

the EGR temp sensor is right in front of the EGR valve. Its technically on the plenum, but its right after the EGR valve.... it looks like a small bolt with a wire coming out of it....

Quote »there are 2 things, the EGR valve and the BPT valve, not sure what the BPT valve does.....[/quote]BPT - PURPOSE The EGR-Back Pressure Transducer(EGR-BPT) will allow vacuum to pass to the EGR valve only when the correct amount of exhaust back-pressure is presentOPERATION Exhaust back-pressure acts on the lower portion of a spring loaded diaphragm. When the exhaust pressure over-comes the spring tension the diaphragm raises and covers a vacuum bleed port. Vacuum will then pass through the BPT valve to the EGR valve.TESTING 1- Plug one of two ports of EGRC-BPT valve. 2- Apply a pressure above 0.490 kPa (50 mmH2O, 1.97 inH2O) to check for leakage. 3 - If a leak is noted, replace valve.EGR Control Solenoid ValvePURPOSEThe Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Control Solenoid will either allow vacuum to pass to the EGR Valve or vent the vacuum based on signals from the ECCS Control Module (ECMOPERATIONIf the ECM senses:Low engine coolant temperature Engine cranking High engine speed Engine idling Excessively high coolant temperatureit energizes the EGR Control Solenoid. An energized solenoid will vent the vacuum signal and NOT allow EGR operation. If the ECM senses any condition other than above, the EGR Solenoid will be de-energized and allow vacuum to pass. There is also EGR temp sensorPURPOSE The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Temperature Sensor monitors the exhaust gas temperature and transmits a signal to the ECCS Control Module (ECM) OPERATION The EGR Temperature Sensor is a negative temperature coefficient thermistor. The greater the temperature the lower the resistance. The sensor is exposed to hot exhaust gas in the EGR passage under normal conditions and this heat will cause the sensor to change resistance. If the ECM reads no voltage change in the sensor circuit (from a short or open), it will store a trouble code for the sensor.Only sensors with feedback of some sort will give you MIL on. Other possible outcomes might be in different turbulences in combustion chamber caused by inoperative EGR system will either mask as lean missfire or ignition missfire. Shop scope will be your best friend to resolve such problem!Cheers!
