my rb20 was origanally installed as an auto... I have converted it to a 5 speed, but the auto ecu seems to have more power up top than the manual ecu. but the manual ecu idles better and runs smoother in first gear. I read somewhere that the auto ecu actually has more agressive fuel mapping, but i cant verify that. also, auto's base timing is 5 degrees more advanced than the manuals.

False, I have a 5-speed RB20 on an auto ECU and trust me, it has a rev limiter. Maybe some do and some dont, but yes, mine does.

is it true the auto ecu's have more aggressive fuel mapping? I have heard this, but never confirmed it.

I have never looked at the mapping myself, but I do know my car made 5-10 more hp than other local cars with similar mods at the same boost, possibly because it was an auto A31 motorset.
