I think my friend told me the answer to this a while back but I have since forgotten.

Alot of the EJ20 motors we get in have MAFS just like the Nissan N60/62 MAFS.

Could this possibly work without a piggy back ECU? Do they have a different resistance reading to the point it would throw off the nissan ECU?

I wouldn't see why they wouldn't but its over my head.

I dont see why it wouldn't work. Nissan people even used FORD Cobra MAF's. The only difference is they may operate at a different Voltage curve. You'll obviously have to retune the ecu to compensate for the difference in the voltage for the MAF.Pretty much you have to do the same thing as if you used a Z32 MAF.

The answer is NO, it will not work without a piggy back ecu, or some form of compensation... the n60/62's don't even work without compensation. as for the cobra mafs... I believe those only work on the newer ecu's with a daughter board.

Anyone know the difference in the voltage?

I looked all over the subaru websites but they don't really talk about MAFS alot. The Apexi site actually described the EJ20 as a type 4 motor and the SR20 as a type 6 motor.

It seems that there are two types of subaru mafs. The regular size and "big size" MAFS. The regular MAFS has a voltage of 1-5 and the Big MAFS has a 1-6 voltage.
