I am pretty sure i know the answer I have a stock ka24de with a turbo. when it revs up it sputters right at 0 vac going into boost. it is a t4 turbo, i have stock injectors, stock mas, and external wastegate, just starting to build it up.

I think that the stock ecu is not capable of understanding boost and that i need a new one.

Fix your boost leak, then you can figure out why you dont boost on a stock fuel system and stock ecu just as the countless people who have blown their motors the exact same way have.

If you want to cheap out, buy a 8:1 FMU and install it. Takes less than 2 hours. Retard your base timing by 2 degrees and run 7-8 psi. You can run it like this for years.

Or you can just do nothing and blow your motor and join the Ka's suck crowd because you failed to do the slightest bit of research before you undertook something as complicated as turbocharging a N/A vehicle.

Dont. Boost.

Get your s*** setup right, then enjoy it. I promise you, you will regret your impatience and ignorance if you dont.

How big is your turbo? Do you have all your intercooler pipes secure and leak free?

Don't boost.

Get a minimum 370cc (OEM SR20DET) injectors

At a minimum get some sort of fuel management... like an AFC Neo. Also, get a wideband.

DO NOT GO BALLS OUT UNTIL YOU CAN GET REAL FUEL MANAGEMENT AND GET IT DYNO TUNED!!!

Do like said before. Read up on the sticky threads at the top of the KA-T forum. If you wanna chat, AIM me at EazyE4You. I can set up an ECU for you, and get you a base tune for what you have. Cool thing is, you pay for parts. I don't charge money for anything. Ask koukihmongster.

I have a a/f ratio gauge and boost gauge. I am just wondering if anyone has used a stock ecu or if that is my problem. I have checked for leaks and have found non. I dont think that the waste gate is opening because the boost isnt going up for it to open. I am going to get cooler buring spark plugs and retard the timing. like the others said. If i need injectors then i will need a new ecu programed for them.... Right? In that case i will get z32 mas as well.

At this point i just want it to stop sputtering at 5000 rpms

the wastegate would be stuck open if its not boosting, if it was'nt opening it would overboost.

Dude people keep giving advice, and you just ask more questions...

Respond to some of this advice that way we know what's going on.

To answer your question strait up. Yes, a stock Ka ECU will work with a turbo. It wont work long, it will go vrrrroooommmmmm pshhhh, then you will start smoking and prly stall with a blown motor.

If you knew how it works then why did you say something stupid that would lead us to believe you dont know how it works?

Sounds like your spark was blowing out. Unless your previous plugs were severely worn, expect you may run into the same issue again as your new plugs wear down. Its unlikely a colder set of plugs in that of themselves would be a solution. Ultimately, you may need to get an ignition amplifier or reduce the gap. Perhaps move to a plug that uses a narrower electrode to reduce the quenching (platinum/iridium).

I put the ngk v-grove and i already have a 60,000 volt coil.the plugs were in really bad shape. I had them in since before i added the turbo.... A while. they were due. I did a leak test and found that the bov was leaking really bad. wont even hold 10 psi. i think i need a new one.
