On my 89 240sx that I just put a ka24de into I had the head shaved and cleaned up due to some nasty warping. Now I'm considering going turbo. I know all the other things I will need (injectors, fuel pump, etc.) but I was wondering if the fact that I had shaved the head will affect turbo capabilities such as reliability etc..

Ok cool. I thought that would be the only thing. The turbo guys I run around with didn't think it would be a problem I just wanted to get the oppinion of some Nissan owners. Thanks

The head is shaved very little. Should be fine. It may of raised it a but, but you can either get a thicker HG or just get arias 8.8 pistons and be fine. You won't have any problems. Just make sure you get a good tune.

nasty warping? how much was it shaved?

it may not make a difference, but it'd be nice to know what your new compression ratio is.

I would say its was suffecientley shaved. They took quite a bit off due to pits they removed...so I would need a larger head gasket cause I don't want to rip the engine fully apart. I'd like to get it done with as little work as possible to the engine besides necessities such as fuel upgrades. I was only wanting to run a .48 turbo on it.

To be safe, I'd check the minimum thickness specifications for your head, these can be found in some workshop manuals and I'd assume the FSM and then measure what you have and compare. The limit on a '95 240 engine is .008" or 0.2 mm - not a lot - yours may be different.

I actually looked this up in an online s14 vs. my s13 FSM a while back. These tolerances are identical. It stands to reason it is .2mm for every KA24DE. Remember though, that is the total. If you ever have the top of the block planed, take into acount how much was shaved off the head. Write it down in your Factory Service Manual so you don't forget. Just in case things don't go so well with the turbo.
