will a quest alternator work on a 87 hardbody with a pully change?

i was looking for other year model nissans that i can yank a alternator from that will work in my hard body and give me more amps i tried the rebuil route but the place i want to do it at wants 300 and up to rebuild it for that. dont want to do that when i can get one that puts out more amps from another vehicle. thanks for any input you guys want to give
