I talked with someone in an online chat session from crutchfield and they said that they do not make a trim kit for my car. I'm just curious if it will fir because I can probably make a trim kit myself. Has anyone done this?timmack wrote:http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi....aspx
type your car info in there, crutchfield is usually a good resource for that kind of info.
Well I got it installed and my installer had to use a double din chassis from a pathfinder. I guess the QX4 chassis is only a single din. The double din also doesn't line up correctly so an ABS trim was made and I gotta say, it looks pretty good. Once I get my camera back from repair I'll post the pics.SnowSurfLax wrote:The OEM head unit on R50 QX4's is a double din. Any small tweaks will need be done by you if the head unit doesn't fit perfectly.
From all the double din units I've seen installed in the R50's, they all fit really nice or required minimal adjustment.
The QX4 is built a little differently from the pathfinder because it has that junk bose system in it. It takes up more room than a double din but the chassis is built for a single din. I think it's the way the bose system mounts. This is what my installer told me when he called Infinity looking for the chassis for my QX4. I had a single din bluetooth stereo put in it a year ago and they didn't have to change anything out as far as the chassis goes. For the new system he had to rip a chassis out of a Pathfinder to get it to work. If you install a single Din radio it's centered with the opening, if you install a double it's all out of whack and need to have a custom trim built, no biggie, it is what it is.SnowSurfLax wrote:Not sure what to say, but there's no way the QX4 is a single din.
But the system being Bose, I'm sure it's a non standard shape.
Do you know what parts the installer actually replaced? I've looked at my '01 and I'm unclear on whether your installer just ordered alternate left and right radio brackets or something else. If so, there are a couple of options for those brackets and it's unclear from part listings what's really required. It's one of these two sets:Empty V wrote:The QX4 is built a little differently from the pathfinder because it has that junk bose system in it.
