Will a DOHC ecu run a SOHC?

Wondering if a dohc ecu will run a sohc. I Have a sohc with a bad ecu, plugged in the dohc ecu.
It cranks and starts but when you press the gas it dies. Wondering if thats just because its a dohc ecu??

I am pretty sure that you need a sohc ecu, but I have been wrong before.

You need a SOHC ecu.

And I have one for sale. It is a manual s13 sohc ecu. I can let you have it for $25 shipped lower 48.

I'm gonna get one locally this friday, but just wondering shouldnt the car run atleast decent with the dohc ecu, or is the pinout completely different from the sohc?

Was thinking maybe since de and e mafs are different, the ecu cant read it, so thats why it bogs and dies with gas applied?

getting the right ecu friday, just wondering...

Completely different. 8bit vs 16bit I believe.
