I do not want my car to shoot fire balls, so I am wondering, if I use a stock cat converter, will this prevent my car from shooting fire out the exhaust? My car will be running pretty ritch, I am running an 8:1 fmu, 255 hp walbro pump, blow threw mass air, and a vented bov

My understanding is that the fireballs are because you're rich (and possibly your timing)... simply putting a cat on might help for a little while, but you'll probably foul it really quickly and it'll just become an annoying obstruction in your exhaust.

Dont use a band-aid, fix the richness and timing.

dont run the fmu--get a better source of engine management. FMU's will cause it no matter how you run them.

btw, red/orange flames are the result of a rich mixture. blue flames, are never long, and usually have a mroe sharp sound with them, and are a result of a very lean mixture. usually SRs, without fuel management, but with exhaust, intake and the boost upped a few psi will make blue flames. not a good sign.
