Will a 97 KA start without a MAF?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

Helping a friend out with a KA reinstall into a 97, the only thing we are missing is a KA maf. We have a N60 maf but the jackass who swapped cars with him took the s-afc. For RB's they will start fine without the MAF (limp mode). But I ask because my 99 g20 will not at all. Anyone know ?

KA will start with out a MAF. But it will run super rich, which isn't good for the engine and it will get about 5 miles per gallon, seriously. I had to do it once when my MAF burned out on me.

Thanks for the Reply. We just want to get it running to make sure the engine is in working order. One time I actually had to limp back home 20 miles after my aem ems went nuts and had to use the stock rb25 computer without a maf. Got me home just fine

Have another questionWhere is this plug going to Seems we don't have a connector for it on the 95 motor.

Isn't the larger one under it for that? It seems it just runs to the back of the IM and has another connector at the end.
