Hi guys I'm wondering if a 5-speed automatic from an xterra or later model pathfinder will work in my r50. When it comes time to replace my transmission it would be nice to get the extra gear and better gas milage.
Thanks!

As long as you use the transmission and controller from a VG33E. Have you searched? :)

I've searched and haven't found anyone who has switched to a transmission with 5 gears. Its easy enough to find the transmissions used though. I'm not familiar with how the transmission is controlled; so it has a separate controller from the engine? It seems like anyone who had to swap there transmission would want the upgrade.

I think the toughest thing you may run in to is that if you're talking about using the 5-speed auto from the VQ40 then you would have to make sure that the bellhousings match up. I'm not sure how different the engines are, then you would likely need a different ECU as well.
