Yes it will fit w/ no complications.

Differences are very very minute.Even your ECU will still be good. The service manual for both years is identical in the engine section.

Fred....:)

PS: the engiens from 90-93 are intechangeable are virtually identical, minute differences include dropping sodium filled valves in 93 MY (some say 92), minor ECU tweaks and some minor redesign of teh heads for reliability reasons.I had a 92 was sold a "92" engine which I later found out to be a out of a 91, ran fine.

Bob what is your location?

I have an 91 engine for sale myself, it has new seals, 7 out of 8 injectors less than 2 weeks old(!), guides put in (!), guaranteed (or money back) non sludge or varnish engine

Will give supercheap to those who are willing to come here and pull and pick up themself.

Be VERY careful when buying used engiens and be sure to run the deal by us.

Fred...:)

PS: I am not really hard up to sell the engine just figured I'd let u know, its not even in our Buy/Sell/Trade section yet, also be sure to check there as well sometime

Fred's engine would be my first choice if I were rehabbing a 90-93...

I once paid $3850 for a sludged up engine with original guides/seals/plenum hoses/injectors.

Usually good engines simply can't be had for under $2k unless u have a good connection to seller.

Engines out of junkyards for under $2k are usually just that, junk.

Even paying $3.5k does not always guarantee a good engine.

I am willing to let mine go for 1.3k under the conditions mentioned above.

Thanks everybody. Here's the deal. Oh BTW I live in San Diego, I bought the engine for $1800, I heard it run and everything, sounds good, The guy is just parting his car. It's a 92 Q45 and has about 30,000 on a rebuilt engine. I saw all the documentation,Legit!!. I've seen many deals on motors and that was cheapest, plus it was a bonus to see alittle info as well, So I got it!!.I heard from my friend about the guy and he was telling me it would fit, I didnt want to start pullin my motor till I was sure though, so engine is on a hoist right now Waitin!! Where you from Fred , are there any clubs aroung San Diego??

SD90, Welcome. Sounds like you're doing you own work, but if you need a shop, check out Jerry Tucker. Guys, are there no other considerations that need to be made when swapping an engine? E.g., HICAS, TCS, active susp, CA model...? I know the CA model has a temp sensor up near the EGR, along with a few other tweaks here and there.

Good points Daedalus, about the versions.

Luckily he is in San Diego. If there are any incompatibilities, by all accounts Jerry Tucker, San Diego is a plenty competent shop and will be able to overcome ECU/model issues (if any exist).

Lupient Infiniti Minneapolis, successfully put in a 91a engine(!) into a 92 base for me w/o batting an eye (excpet they were surprised when it came in as they thought it was a 92 base).

And it ran great (at least until the guides went not their fault).

Fred...:)

PS: I am in Louisville KY

Call Jerry Tucker (All Import Service 858.573.1118), He is happy to answer your questions and address concerns and he does great work. He can probably find you a good motor . He takes expert care of my Q. You are lucky to be in San Diego.
