so i have a j30 diff with the 5-bolt pattern and do not have the axles to match so i went to local auto parts to order and they said they can't get them, after some research i found that the 99 q45 have the similar bolt pattern. So i ordered both driver and pass. sides and will pick up tomorrow just want to know if anyone knows if this won't work to save me some time
i live around small towns so junkyards currently have any j30
the car is a 97 240sx 5 lug

The only thing I can say about trying to put Q45 axles in a 240 is that they are really long axles and might end up being too long for the 240. The shorter Q axle might be the same length as the long side 240 axle. Can you do me a favor and take pictures of the axles side my side? I'd like to see exactly how much longer the Q axles really are.

If the Q axles end up being too long, your options are to either to find a set of R200 output shafts in 6 bolt (obviously USDM S-chassis use them, but so do CA powered JDM chassis), or try to find a set of JDM 5 bolt axles. When I did my VLSD swap, I ended up sourcing a full set of axles and half shafts from a CA 180SX that I had found on ebay.

just so you guys know 99 q45 axles won't work on j30 diff with 5-bolt pattern, got them in and the length looks fine but the splines are different, got some 93 j30 axles from an family ran auto parts and slid right in
