I recently bought a 91 Q. I love the VTC the engine has. But hate the Shield the hood has. I went to a body shop and they said that both hoods had the same part number but he still wasn't sure if it would fit.

Does anyone know if the hood is a direct fit. Or will i have to spend all the money to replace headlights, fender, and hood just to trade my shield for a grill.

P.S. this is the body kit i wanna once i find out what i have to do with this hood.

I'm no genious, but you tell me if this looks like the same part number?

65100-60U36- HODD ASSY, 07/89-02/936500-67U25- HODD ASSY, 02/93->

Time to realize that anything a shop says MUST BE taken with a very apropriate grain of salt!!!

You will have to definitely replace your entire front end- bumper, fenders, lights and so on.... If your doing it for looks thats fine, but remember the 90-93 are sligthly more aerodynamic.

The consensus is no it won't, but I swear someone on here has a non-NICO friend that swapped a grilled hood on to their grill-less Q. My guess is it would take a lot of work, and still wouldn't be "right".

The lights wont match up right neither will the hood match up right to the bumper.

You'll need a new front bumper and fenders to make it fit, and matching chrome strips along the doors and rear bumper to match. Please buy a 94 if you want a 94 and respect the purist philosophy of the designers.

That's about right... to make the 94+ hood work you have to figure out your stopping point. Fenders, hood, bumper, headlights - all a must. Then the trim on the fenders doesn't match the doors.... maybe it's just a different insert, but I doubt it... so you're on to the doors, rear fenders, rear bumper, and tail lights to make it all match up... a lot of trouble...

For two cars that look very similar, it's amazing how many parts are just enough different to make them not interchange.

I kinda agree, but the idea of a 90-93 with a 94 front end is appealing having the 90 interior and feel

Not true not true not true. The awnser is YES it will fit. What has to be done is a small modification the the bump where the grill rest.

How do I know because I have a friend that did it. He was my first inspiration with hooking up my G50 I will try to get some pics to show and prove. The Hood will bolt right on. So you can't say no....IT HAS BEEN DONE and it looked good.

He just would always complain about his bumper and not having fog log inserts like the 94-96.

Are the doors for the 1990-1993 and 1994- 1996 the same? Is it just the chrome trim pieces on the doors that are sold separately?

You could always buy an aftermarket grill:

I'm waiting for the pics too. It's the only thing that will make me a believer. Those stick on grills are hideous.

The only add-on grille that looks good for the 90-93 Q is the Impul version.

All the others look like those Groucho Marx disguises.

I have never liked the Belt Buckle hood ornament. If I had one of the earlier models, I would remove the badge and just fill in the holes in the hood and bumper.

It should be pretty easy to do. I think then it would be a true Q ship.

Impul all the way for the 90/93.

What would you fill the hood hole with?

How would you get a hole on the bumper if you removed the "hood Emblem"?

There should be two holes in the hood for mounting the badge and then there should be a cut-out in the bumper cover for the badge to sit flush. It has been a while since I had my 90 Q, over 8 years, so I could be wrong.

As far as filling in the holes, you would just weld it up. Any body shop can handle it. The bumper cut-out would need some filler pieces added to it, but again it is easy for the pros.
