Does anyone know if 300zx springs will fit in the Q?

Do you just care if they physically "fit"? Even if they "fit", they are designed, engineered, and built for a much lighter car so it is really not a wise idea to try to use them- stick with the correct part number designed for the correct application.

That makes sence I should know that being a mechanic, I am planning on replacing the struts and was going to replace the springs but it is hard finding any after market ones that are a good price there are springs all over ebay for the 300zx that are low cost but the Q being bigger and having a heaver motor then they will not work.

Thanks Dana

Your only chance is to find Eibach or Espelir.

Yeah the springs are physcially different, so they wont physically mount on the Q shocks.. Also, Z32 shocks are quite a bit shorter so using Z32 shocks/springs probably wont work either.

I just recently bought a set of 5zigen springs from japan made specifically for the g50 q45. If you are interested call 5zigen at 1-310-608-5575 and ask for Yoshi.

Thats good to know! IF you don't mind me asking, how much were they? I didnt know that 5zigen made springs for the G50, let alone still had them available.

I'm using Cusco coilover suspension that is made for a 300zx. Spring rate is stiffer than factory to compensate for the weight difference. Can't go too high in the front, but don't need to cause I'm rolling low anyways.

You can call a manufacturer like eibach and have them custom make a spring for you with custom spring rates for your application. Just because they don't list it for the Q45 does't mean that they don't or can't make it. I had a custom spring rate setup on my civic from eibach.

JIC, D2, Ksport, Megan, are some companies that make full coilover suspension for the 90-96 Q45 that are available in the US.

My setup was cheap and not legit since I was in highschool and jobless  . Main reason being is I had stock 300ZX stock springs and struts up front, and believe it or not it road just like stock. Only problem is you're so low you can't adjust em unless you get Eibach sleeve coilovers. The rear I had no name sleeve and 300ZX struts and it road really stiff. Passngers up back would fly to the roof :rotfl .

Depending on your year of the Q you got the modifications are different. For the 90-93 300ZX/R32 Coilovers and Stock suspension fits but the front towers need the holes grinded a bit closer together. The rear if I remember correctly you gotta use the rear top mount or something? Thats for stock suspension, dunno about coilovers but I hear the R32 are direct bolt but I dunno if the 300ZX ones are. 94+ have different modifications if I'm correct.

I strongly suggest getting real coilovers from a 300ZX/R32/Q45. It'll save you the trouble and money in the end. I busted my oil pan and then it went all down hill from there after it fell off the flat bed lol. Good luck hope this helped a bit. Make a good choice and not just to save money or slam the car in a hurry.

Heres a picture of when I had the car with that suspension setup. Transmission clearance was like 2.5-1.5inch off the ground and oil pan was like 2-1inch I forget but it wasn't good. :tisk:

What is the part number you have?

I've tried to look it up from ( http://www.5zigen.co.jp/english/product ... SL_eng.pdf ) but I couldn't find anything under G50 or PG50.
