I am considering putting Yokohama AVS ES100 225 50 VR 15 tires on my stock alloy wheels. I think the wheels are 6" wide. Will such a wide tire fit on those wheels? Has anyone done this?

Thanks.

last night at work I measured the distance from bead seat to bead seat of a 225/50-15 RA1 competition tire.

The distance is 7.5" from bead seat to bead seat. A skilled tire man would have to squeeze that sum***** on there and it would not be pretty. A 7" or bigger wheel would be a better bet.

check the spec on approved rim width's for the es100, that'll tell you how narrow you can go, I think they would work because they have a rounder shoulder than an RA-1, but check Tire Rack or Yokohama's site

tire rack lists rim widt on the es100 as 6-8", so u should be good, mabey run a couple of pounds under recomended (2-3) psi, to keep from crowning.

not to keep from crowning, but rather to help lessen the effect of it. It's gonna happen. The tire is too wide for the wheel. But can still be put on. Just because something CAN be done, doesn't mean it SHOULD be done. This is the opposite extreme of the tire stretching crowd. Both extremes, are too extreme
