What was the production date when OBD11 started then Brian? Alot of people say this started in 96 but, production date is what is important 08/95=OBD11 or 01/96 OBD11.maxnix wrote:No, 1995 is OBD I, but 1996 is OBD II.
All cars declared to be 1996 models had to have OBDII per Federal requirements.PopPop wrote:What was the production date when OBD11 started then Brian? Alot of people say this started in 96 but, production date is what is important 08/95=OBD11 or 01/96 OBD11.

All cars and light trucks built and sold in the United States after January 1, 1996 were required to be OBD II equipped. In general, this means all 1996 model year cars and light trucks are compliant, even if built in late 1995.
Two factors will show if your vehicle is definitely OBD II equipped:1) There will be an OBD II connector as shown below, and2) There will be a note on a sticker or nameplate under the hood: "OBD II compliant".
Exactly my point that is why a lot OBD11 Scanners will say for 95 and later models!szhosain wrote:

But, some mftrs introduced it in their 1995 models. This OBD web site http://www.obdii.com has details. From the website:

Your what?maxnix wrote:I am sure production date for My 1996 started in 1995, but he was asking about MY 1995.
MY = "Model Year" in those posts.Jesda wrote:Your what?
I suppose, but the list of 1995 models that supported OBDII was tiny ... so, making this claim is overly generous really!PopPop wrote:Exactly my point that is why a lot OBD11 Scanners will say for 95 and later models!
Yes. It is an unusual and rare exception ... see the bottom of the page here: http://www.obdii.com/connector.html for the list of vehicles.qship96 wrote:I think the g20 went obd2 in 1994.if I remember correctly
