not recommended, youd be better with a 17, best with a 16

first off, this question should be in the wheels/suspension forum you can find on your right. most people on this forum are highly against 18's on an s13, but personally i think they would look great. if you can find some that fit well (ie. width, offset, bolt pattern), and you dont care about rotating mass, id go with them. the only drawback is since you are running such a big rim, you will need a pretty low profile tire. this creates a problem with rough roads and such, but 18's arent going to crack, bend, or break any easier than a 16" or 17" with the same profile tire. just dodge potholes the best you can...

Yeah 18" is too big if you are concerned with performance. In order to maintain the same overall wheel diameter, really low profile tires are neccesary, which do not soak up as much of the force from hittting bumps as tires with taller sidwalls. I can't say that if you hit x pothole with y depth and z length then you will definately bend the rim. The best I can say is that they will bend if you hit a big enough bump/hole. It is impossible to say how large. Big rims will slow your car down because of rotating mass. People don't usually plus size rims more than 2". 16" is usually the best for the s13.

Um yeah, but nobody is gonna put a 225/35 on a 16" rim. As long as overall tire diameter stays the same, with larger rims, there is less sidewall, making it easier to damage the rims. Smaller rims require a larger sidewall to maintain a certain diameter.

yea i know, but figuratively im saying that an 18 inch wheels isnt any more suseptable to breaking than a 16 or 17. the real variable here is the sidewall size, not the rim size. you get what im saying?

If you are at all worried about pot hole dammage stay away from 18 inch wheels. You will regret it.

if you dont get crackerjack knockoff wheels like the ones in that link, you wont have any problem bending wheels. some like 18s, some think its too big. regardless, thoes wheels in that link, suck ***, and cost way too much.
