ok i know there are alot of questions like this but i searched and found no answers. will 17x7 +42 wheels with 205/40/17 tires clear k-sport coilovers? they clear my stock suspension fine but i have read around that some wheels wont clear coilovers. i would appreciate a response from someone that really knows (chet or grant) or is currently running the same setup. thanks

I would say that you would be fine. I know many people use a 7.5" rim with a 35mm offset and have no problems with clearing coilovers and your setup is only 1mm closer. So unless those coilovers have a reserve oil tank (which i doubt they do) then i'd say you'd be fine.

Now if you already had the coilovers, then you could easily measure and see if it'll fit. But basically those wheels will stick in towards your strut an extra 15mm's.

*shrug* its really a toss up, and depends on the size of the coilover, thing is, all coilover MFR's dont use the same diamatere housing, like the TEIN HE's are larger than most, then cusco, apexi etc...

seeing as how my 17x7.5" +30's will clear coilovers, your will be a bit closer(5mm or so) and your running a thin tire, whcih in this case helps you out a bit....

I would wager it may fit, but it'd be very close if it does. I wouldnt make any comitment though(camber and other items influence fitment also..)

idealy you'd keep the inside of the wheel from getting anywhere over 10mm closer to the strut housing.....(in a great world, only 5mm)

hope that helps out :)-chet

dont let your wheels dicatate something as important as suspension...wheels are more likely to be changed then suspension...

What a coincidence, I also have a small....budget :(

I am probably going to go ST/AGX's here shortly. I wanted to get some nice coilovers myself (Apex'i N1s) but i am poor and i figure that i could do the entire suspension and start on brakes for the same price as those coilovers. I decided that my crazy expensive part dreams would never happen so i'll use cheaper parts and aim for perfect balance and that way i'll actually be able to finish the car, rather than having a few really nice parts and a project that will never end.

Just my thoughts, as im in the same situation you are.
