Will 17+ offset rub in a 16x8 wheels w/say 225's? I'm talking about agx shocks, and z32 brakes in the front..

I think he's talking about rubbing the fender.

Unfortunately, I have no idea. If you haven't done so, use the wheel offset calculator, and measure compare that new distance to the distance you currently have on your wheels. I think that's more reliable than what anyone tells you here.

If he was talking about rubbing his fenders with that offset, he would'nt have mentioned the agx's and the z-brakes. Because all can play a part in fitment issues--not just the fender. And i've found Exar-Kun, NismoFreak, and Smith SR are reliable sources of info since they all work at tire shops/tuning shops. Ask them for help if you need it.

Using the wheel offset calculator may help. What kind of rims are they anyway? I can never find 16" rims in good offsets..

I don't think you will have a rubbing issue... but I would roll the fender to be safe. You don't want a high rpm tire coming into contact with a sharp metal fender.

Well +17 on an 8 inch wheel isn't a setup that I would be worried about rubbing coilovers, much less a shock and spring setup. However, the fender may be an issue. And I just wanted to point that out.

And I'm not doubting anyone's reliability, but there are some things in which it's more accurate to find out for yourself.

And if you want a good 16" rim, do a search for kosei k-1 every few days on ebay. Once in a while they'll have a 16" 4x114.3 bolt pattern up for grabs.

thanks for all the quick responses. The wheels i'm talking about come from the mitsubishi starion. They com in 7, 8, and 9" apparently in a +18 offset and 5x114.3 pattern. Apparently they are made by Advan and weight around 16lbs. Being poor this seemed like a good drifting wheel option (except for having to do 5 lug conversion)...Now I just have to find a whether the inner bore is any good.

PS: The '99c '00 Cobra wheel is an excellent option as well.

I have 15" x 7" work wheels that are +17 mm offset...in the rear I have 6mm spacers (effective offset of 11 mm) and am running 225/50/15 tires and there's no rubbing whatsoever...I know you're talking about larger wheels but the offset and tire width are the same so take it for what it's worth.
