WILD speedo problems with 89 AND 91 S13's - Please Help!

OK, hopefully someone could help me figure this one out. I have an 89 and a 91 240sx. I am selling the 89 tomorrow but saw the speedo stopped working this week. With not being able to order a speed sensor quick enough, i took the speed sensor out of my 91 and put it in the 89. The Speedo and Odo were still not working. Then I put the speed sensor from the 89 into the 91 and After two days of driving, The speedometer on the 91 ALSO stopped working. Any of you guys have any ideas????

Have you tried the search button lately?

89-90 sensors are not compatible with 91-94.

Indeed. Few parts are interchangeable between SOHC and DOHC for obvious reasons.

Same thing happened to me once. Change the Speedometer cluster. Happened to me on the freeway and i just went to the junk yard and pulled out a used one. works fine now.

Okay since it sounds like you are going to get confused with what the guy above me said...

89-90 speed sensor <--> 89-90 speedo cluster 91-94 speed sensor <--> 91-94 speedo cluster

well thank you very much, i did search all over to try to figure this out and even when i called the parts department at nissan, they told me that is was the same part number for those years. so i thought i had figured it out. Thanks!!!!

How can he get confused with what i said. All i said was just swap out the speedometer cluster.
