Trying to figure out which would be the better system to buy. I really want to play the Resident Evil series games starting with Resident Evil Zero. I could pretty much play all of these games on Gamecube since they have also released the remade versions with better graphics so I don't have to play them on the PsOne(shudder...). But then again any game that I can play on the GC I can also play on the Wii since it's backwards compatible. So should I just save 100 bucks and buy a GC or get the Wii?

Get the Wii. I'm sure they'll be making more of the classic Nintendo games in the near future as Wii exclusives, so might as well get it so you don't miss out.

Get the Wii. The only thing the GCN supports that the Wii doesn't is the GameBoy Player. Everything else works perfectly with the Wii. Memory cards, controllers...even the Wavebird wireless Cube controller (which is a must have).

Another reason to get the Wii is for re-released GCN titles. Nintendo has a line of Wii titles called "New Play Control" that consists of popular GameCube titles that have been updated to support widescreen and Wii controls. So far, both Pikmin games, Both Metroid Prime games, DK Jungle Beat, and a couple other games have been released this way.

And of course the downloadable games are a huge draw as well, especially those from earlier Nintendo consoles.

you have not lived until you played resident evil 4 wii edition. It was 20bux new and best game to actually utilize the wiimote. Also, it has all of the little extras that the Ps2 version had that the original gamecube version didn't. I forget what they were but i think it was a short alternate story line where you play as Hot-Jap-babe-in-red-dress. (forgot her name...

I keep meaning to pick up a Saturn.

Get a Wii anyway. :)
Chances are your GCN's disc drive will crap out on you eventually anyway, and when that happens you'll have a reliable backup.
