So, I just got a Samsung Captivate and was required to sign up for a data plan w/ AT&T. The phone also has a WiFi feature, letting me connect to my network at home, school, etc. Now, I know this doesn't count against the data plan I signed up for, but is there a limit, datawise (MB, GB, etc) as to how much I can do when connected to WiFi?

Nope. Use as much as you want with wi-fi.

If there is wi-fi wherever you happen to be using your phone, you should turn 3G off. It will conserve battery. :)

You are correct.. I have an iPhone and when I am connected to WiFi it doesnt use data... There is no limit to what you can use via wifi

You will have a hard time using 2GB unless you're downloading pr0nz non-stop.

Sweet! I have 3G off. My data plan is 200MB (I mainly use it for e-mails with my clients and such), but I do like to surf the web on occasion and not worry about going over that limit. Yay for unlimited!

Thanks guys :D

Also, will using apps like Pandora affect my data limit when on Wifi?

Ok, so just a final clarification, because AT&T has pulled s*** on me before: I can do whatever I want, download and run apps that go online, etc when I'm on WiFI w/ no affect on my data plan? If so, that's awesomesauce.

Yep. Just make sure you have 3G off when doing anything over wi-fi... maybe just keep it off all the time unless checking your email.

Very useful for people on limited data plans. Download a 3G toggle widget and you're set...turn it on when you need it, turn it off when you don't...without diving through the Settings menu.

I used 661MB or 0.65GB of data last month. That was streaming full episodes of Lie to Me via my Netflix app and several total hours of Pandora streaming. Luckily I got grandfathered in on the unlimited data plan.

I'm grandfathered in on unlimited data w/ATT as well and I've never exceeded 1GB. Came close ONCE. (900+MB). Most of the time I'm in the 3-500MB range. And I'm CONSTANTLY on the web.
