WIFI option

Hi,

I just buy a 2018 Nissan Rogue S with the 4x4 option. Canadian one

While playing with the radio unit, i realize i can connect my radio to my home WIFI or any WIFI network "if i have the password of course" But i try to find the reason why my radio have a WIFI connection capability on Google and i didn't find any answer.

It's for a future feature ? It's for update purpose ?

It can be used, from my playing around with it, in place of a BlueTooth or cable connection for a lot of the data needs on the head unit. I was unable to get S-XM Traffic data to overlay on the GPS map unless I had a data connection. Also, you can download map updates. I suspect it is also used to send/receive service data. Anyway, it looks like it's just one of the 4 types of ways this unit can send/receive data. I've contemplated getting a T-MOBILE ODB2 WiFi Hotspot for this, and other in car uses https://www.t-mobile.com/offers/syncup
