Honda Insight will probably destroy it.

Good luck to GM though. This is more effort than the last 30 years combined. If it doesn't work out, bankruptcy. But then again, they were heading down that road anyway, so might as well try.

Honda feels that battery technology is not at the level required to give the performance and practicality consumers expect from their cars.

You also have to charge the Volt everyday. 40 miles per charge. If you drive more than 40 miles, you're now using gasoline.

Honda Insight is much more simple and is estimated at 70+mpg.

Price factor as well:

Honda - $18,500GM - $40,000+? Tax benefits possible.

Love the front/sides...the rear is nasty!

As far as cost...I doubt it would cost 40k. I can see it competing with the Toyota P.

I think it is a good looking one. Joe you are right about the rear end is too flat sharp corners. weird.

I highly doubt it will be 40K+.

I've heard a lot of mixed things lately about the Volt. I was reading in the Detroit News that people are taking their names off of the wait list because they wanted one that was styled more like the concept car instead of what's being put into production.

Another thing I have to ask, and this goes for all future electric cars, is why all the futuristic things like extra lights and stuff? Unless the lights draw low power, if your car runs on electricity, shouldn't the goal be to draw the least amount of power as possible? So why all the extra electronics and lights?

Originally supposed to be $30,000. Concept design doesn't make it to production. Price creeps up to $35k, and now estimated at $40k.
