Checking in again,A few days ago Wife, father in law & I stoped by a major dealer in town thats sells many types of autos. She fell head over heels over the new acura tsx. I don't know seems like an ok car but wouldn't a used I-35 be a better ride? Besides, after paying bills and the payment on the G we really need to put some funds aside. She's hooked and there's not much I can do now. The only thing I know to do is call on reinforcements. What else can I do, besides letting her drive the G every day? After all, what's wrong with the 2000 Neon? (joke) Do you all think that detailing the car and making it squicky clean would help? How about trying to bring back the new car scent? I've got to do something because when momma's not happy nobodys happy. Thanks.kev....

get her to test drive an I35.

Beautiful interiors.A real bargain used (she might not notice the differnce if you get a 2000 I30, since women rarely use all of an engines power and the I30's are even bigger bargains and still pretty powerful)

A new TSX is preobaly a bit better handler but that is <all> it has on a used I.

The I's are bigger + more comfy too.

I like Fred's idea. When my dad bought his 99 I30 my mom loved it. Too bad he hated and sold it 6 weeks later. :) what did he buy? another Q of course.

For what it's worth, and while Acura has made some decent lookng cars (the RL's of a few years ago still make me look), I think the TSX looks like a cheese wedge. Hope she's not afraid of mice....

weren't the acura rl's horribly under powered????? seem to remember reading something about them putting out around 210-220 horsepower, pretty lame for such a big car if it's true. jeff

Yeah but I don't think the 'little lady' cares about power. At least that's what I gathered on his first post. I think she just needs to be 'suprised' with an I30/35 in your driveway one day. Once she takes it out for a spin, she'll be hooked and saying "tsx? isn't that the arnold shwarzenegger movie?"

TSX looks boring but it is very refined, good bang for the buck. Interior fit/finish is great.

Just too cramped for me.

I think the TSX is a better looking car than the I35. But I have not driven either. I think the G35 Coupe is better looking than both!

Besides I'm sure the Acura is a fun driving car. My brother just bought a CL tonight and he let me drive it most of the evening. Loads of fun! And what an engine!

Being married I'd say it's best to let her have her way on this one - at least is a reliable solid car that will be trouble free. Anyhow keeping the wife happy will pay off in other ways that will be very worth your while;)

I guess that I'm blessed in that my wife LOVES her 92 Q45.

The TSX looks like:Honda AccordMazda 6Acura TL...any almost any generic japanese design with a pentagonal grille.

The more descriminating eye would see that the car the TSX is most influenced by is the new Audi A4. The pointed front grill/front end draws heavliy upon the very first CL show car nearly 10 years ago.

Thanks for you help guys. I'll try the stall tactic detail her car and try to upgrade the neon at a latter date. Rest assured, she’d be in an Infiniti if I find the right super clean, non-smoked, and garaged kept car. After all, I have the drive her car 2 workdays a week. Got to share the G with my baby.Kev...

Actually, I think the TSX would be fine, as long as it is a six speed and you like FWD. If it is an automatic, then a six is a must.

Be glad she doesn't want a Buick or a Saturn.

I'd buy a Buick... a supercharged 240hp Regal GS with grand touring suspension. Beautiful cars, smooth lines, comfy as heck.

Right now I've got my dad convinced he should sell his Honda Civic and buy an Infiniti. First tried to sell him on the Q, he doesnt like cars that large. Then mentioned the M45... but he fell for a G35 he saw sitting in the entrance at Costco. Now to convince him to sell that damn Honda...

Yes, they do look very clean and tidy, but they dont look like what they cost. Acuras, to me, are overpriced, underpowered, and severely lacking in personality.

Transportation appliances with some chrome on them.

The TSX, being the European Honda Accord, is pretty much a stop-gap to fill the void left by the four door Integra. I sat in on a test drive of one a few weeks ago. My impressions were that the interior is great, probably the nicest you can get for $25K, but that's about all it has going for it. Exterior styling is a matter of taste, and power was absent. The manually transmission make it a 7+ second 0-60 car, auto puts it in the 9s. G20 anyone?

there is no 6 cyclinder option for this either, just the 4. It got a hell of a good writeup in the recent Car & Driver, but overall if you look at what your getitng for your $$$, the I35 is way more car.
