My wife curbed her 4 day old 6MT and put a three inch gouge on the lip of the right front rim. Any advice on how to fix it?

Call around to some major dealerships. Sometimes they contract out to individuals who can repair them for a decent price. I know around here that is the case anyways. I take it you didn't buy the warranty for the wheels?

actually I did but that only covers the wheel only if it won't seal anymore so it doesn't help me. Also covers flats and came with roadside assistance. Was a good deal but doesn't cover this.

Well I guess it needs to get to the point where it doesn't seal.

It takes some getting use to having those low profile tires and flush rims.

Both of my front rims have curb rash. The Driver's side I did (bad judgement on how close I was to the curb) and the passenger side my girlfriend did (same situation).

What can you do?

When I bought my used '05, 3 rims were scratched...The tire and wheel package is if you hit something in the road, making your 4 thousand $ rims junk. However, as stated above most dealerships have a contract with a company that can fix the rims. The dealer in Gwinnett Infiniti (ATL) charges $175 a rim, and they do the work at the dealership with the rims on the car. You just have to be careful...

For 175 bucks they should look awesome. What kind of job did they do? Thats impressive to do it on the car. I'm considering using a dremel tool and sandpaper to blend it since it really isn't too bad. The tough part will be finding a spray paint to match it.

Glad our '05 came with a full size spare... at least the wife has one free "learning experience." Already scraped the bottom corner of the front bumper on a high curb....

Still debating whether or not to have it done...maybe when I take it in for the vent rattles. If you try and dremel it, let us know how it turns out!

Check your policy for the Tire and Wheel insurance. I had the same issue, they told me no coverage if it still holds a seal. That was not stated ANYWHERE on my contract. They have replaced one wheel and fixed the other. Both still held air. Potholes can do the same damage a curb can.

It is worth the money to have it fixed. The fixed rim looks brand new. I can't even tell where the mark was.
