mine did that before it died...

It is supposed to shift at 6000 if you are on it, at about 7100 it gets on the rev limiter...

take it easy on the transmission, it is on its way out.

So you had an at? Did you convert to MT? How much did that cost and how much of a pain is it to do it?

Im doing it right now actually, doing an rb20det swap..

If you look under the dash you should see a bracket mounted on the firewall to the left of the brake pedal.. if you have that, drill 2 holes one in the top right cylinder thing, and the bottom right..

next get a 1 and a half inch hole cutout tool from lowes or wherever and cut out the center piece...

then you can mount your clutch pedal and the slave or master or whatever that small thing is that has the hardline going to it..

So, its not hard to mount the clutch pedal at all, getting the transmission out and back in might be a pain though...

What up! im new to this forum, I just bearly signed up. I drive a 91 240SX with the KA, its a rare one cuz it has the hicas and abs, but anyways i completely rebuilt the motor. I had the block bored, crank polished, new pistons, rings, head rebuilt and resurfaced. I removed the egr valve, removed the swirl valves in the intake. When it comes to the KA, I pretty much know it like the back of my hand. By reading the problem you have, it sounds to me like the disributor might be off a couple of teeth. I had the same exact problem the first time i fired my KA. I had trouble starting it, finally i got it started but it idled really rough and if i gave it gas, it wanted to die out. I couldn't get it to rev higher than 1500rpms. I then figured that its either i didnt align my chains up right or my distributor was off. So i did the easiest thing and removed the 2 bolts that hold down the distributor so i could get more timing adjustment. i rotated my dist and it started idling a lot better, so i just set my crank to tdc and set the dist cap pointing directly to my #1 cyl, i kept messing with it, if it still ran rough i removed the dist and moved back a tooth or up one tooth till i finally got running perfect!! I was jumping up in the air on how happy i was. This all happened over 2 years ago. My baby girl has been running great ever since. I have about 25K on this motor now and have not had any serious problems with it. I have had one problem but thats a story for some other day. Sorry for all the reading!!
