Well, ive been having this stuttering, missing problem for a while, good spark, fuel, air...new o2 and coolant temp...ECU threw a knock and cam position sensor code...no $$ to replace both right now...so i was poking around the engine today, removed the intake tube all the way to the throttlebody, opened the butterfly and peeked inside with a flashlight....inside caked with black crap...hosed it down with about a can of carb cleaner, reassembeled everything, cranked until it started, stumbled for a second or two then ran like a champ!!! went for a drive, great power through all rpm, no misfire or stutter....get back home and pop the hood, waterpump started to whine.....went to price a waterpump....stuttering is back...what could this be? extremely dirty intake causeing engine bumbling?

*edit* Oh yea..also it sometimes does a kinda hunting for a steady idle thing..it likes to roam from 900-1400rpm...never steady though..

i had a similar problem, i did the same thing and cleaned my throttle body....which was full of black crap. It didnt help though, but i found out later it was my cat converter restricting exhaust. Check it, wouldnt hurt. All i did to mess up my cat was run over some railroad tracks, nocked everything around in the cat and it stumbled everywhere. That could build up crap in everything because the exhaust is poluting the engine. As soon as I replaced it with a high flow, the more I drive it, the better it feels. I think this is due to the engine cleaning itself out. The miss is gone now.

if it threw those codes, it is very possible that those are your problem. also, check your MAF (a search should bring it up, it has been covererd many times) as this is a fairly commonn problem.

Problems like this are can be hard for us to diagnose since we can't see the vehicle. What year? OBD 1or2?First replace your cam position sensor if you KNOW it's bad.

navysnail is right they should be your problem.

I will check all vacuum lines, im not sure about the codes. But a cracked or frayed vacuum line will start all kinds performance issues. Is quick and cheap fix. If all is good then you can concentrate on other things like codes,sensors..etc
