Wierd sound from the engine

ok this started a few weeks ago..i have a rattleing sound that goes up as the revs go up. the car is a 96 240sx se with 80k. i was thinking it might be the timing chain on it but i dont really know...any ideas?

if it is a clicking noise it could be the timing chain guides. most guys remove them anyways

timing chain guides are plastic guides in the timing chain cover that sort of keep the the chain lined up to the sprokets. alot of times they break(like all plastics) and end up at the bottom of the timing chain cover.almost everybody i've talked to has them removed when they do a re and re on their timing chain.
