wierd question

when you guys open your gas cap say as the gas station (after driving a bit) is there a rush of pressure coming out of the tank when you open the cap. mine does it alot, i'm asking b/c lately that has been happening and gas fumes are pretty strong whenever its running. i dunno if they are related at all but its just a place to start. thanks, sorry its a wierd question

gasoline fumes expand. especially when sloshing around.

I would be concerned if it didn't woosh! As far a gas smell when driving, I too had this problem to the point I was concerned of fire hazard. There is a fuel line, rubber, which runs left to right just behind the top of the engine and in front of fire wall. Perfect for sucking in fumes thru fresh air vent to heater. Check it out. I had mine replaced and now smells like rose petals. Hope that solves your fumes!
