wierd noise

so my 01 pathfinder is making a wierd rattling like noise when i accelerate.i noticed it the other day when i was changing a cd at a red light with the windows down.while the cd was reading the light turned green and around the time when the gears are going to shift theres a wierd metal like sound that rattles. like something is loose. anyone know anything?

It is probably a loose exhaust heat shield. They're infamous for rusted out bolts and attachments that fall apart.

You're hearing the revving engine vibrating the exhaust pipes against the heat shield.

My solution was to crawl under the truck and rip off any loose and rusted out pieces of the heat shield. I know many others have done this without ill effects.

i has the same thing when my dad uses regular fuelas i hit the throttle or getting on ramp i can hear the echo coming from outside..and i can hear it from under the dash as well

My QX4 use to due the same exact thing. Only under acceleration the would be an annoying rattle, not very loud but a higher pitch like loose metal. Turned out to be the heat shield as previously stated. Hope yours is as simple.
