ok, so just recently my 91 q45 started making an obnoxious noise, coming from the front end. At first i thought it may be my strut mount bushings, but as time went on, and after hours of spraying white lithium grease on different areas, i talked to a technician that i work with and he suggested that it may be myball joints...what are you opinions? and if you think it is the ball joints, do any of you have an idea where i can get a set for cheap?

thank you

When does the noise occur? And are your chain guides done?

it happens only when turning, also, the noise is worse when stationary or slowly moving and it comes from the lower part of the wheel. it is kind of a whining sound.

Sounds like your power steering is going. Or is gone. Is it difficult to turn sometimes?

When I hear funny noises from my 94 Q45, I checked my power steering fluid. Thats what it was. It wont hurt to check, just helping out.

i had issues with my pump, hopefully you know that sound, its about the same for all cars, itl be the driver side, check the fluid is easy enough as mentioned above. My pump made noise, filled it back up, it doesnt turn super easy any more (definitely some issues there but it still works) but i can still turn it and its way easier than not having any fluid

Normalym, when I check the power steering fluid its low when I hear noise from turning. Check the power steering fluid level, fill it to the max, then try checking the master cylinder for leaks. I bet its where u hear the noises from cuz I experience the same thing. Again, I just trying to help!!! I may not be accurate but at least can steer u in the right direction. I bought my Q45 a year ago, so I dont know how well the previous owner kept up with maintainence so I just guessing off of experience!!! Holla back if this doesnt work. Im not a professional, just trying to hook up with one.

If you recounted your suspension maintenance history, I bet we would discover that both your upper links and tension rod bushings are shot.

This doesn't ablsolve the ball joints or lower links.

well, first of all thats what i thought at first(ps) but the fluid is fine, can you tell me where the above mentioned parts are located.... i know what the ps pump woul sound like if it was low on fluid or going out and it doesnt sound like that, it sounds like bad bushings to me, but it doesnt make the sound as bad if at all when it rains or when its cold.....

Study the 1994 FSM as the suspension is almost exactly the same.

Could be your wheel bearings. Take a look, have someone drive slowly and see if you can spot anything fishy.

it doesnt grind like wheel bearings, and it only makes the noise when turning.
