it's cold here in TX and my car is off. i'm hearing this very fast clicking noise around my battery. it stops when i turn my key to start the car, though. i went down stairs to grab a log for the fire and it started again. any ideas????

wow - sounds crazy!

Just going to throw this out there, but I'm wondering if it's due to the colder temperature and somehow it's shorted out a wire/connection that is now closer together (ie. colder temperatures will cause things to shrink /or move closer together) and when you turn the key, it switches that shorted connection over to another electrical path thus eliminating the short that naturally exists when at rest.

...just a thought

Good luck!
