Wierd knocking/Ticking noise when about 2 rpm in accelerating!!! wtf!

Alright well... here is the thing... i hear many many noises and i am very peranoid lol!! my buddies think im crazy but yeah everytime i accelerate and keep it at about 2-3 grand in 1st,2nd, and 3rd gear the motor seems to be knocking or ticking... more like ticking... but when i am still and sit there and rev up on the motor... it doesnt do it... WTF!! lol can someone help please thanks!

i too occasionally here a ticking noise coming from the top of my engine it seems. don't quite know what it is. the ticking speeds up when i accelerate and i can still here it when im idling....

see mine only does it in 2k-4k rpms... and its on top of my engine as well... i was told not to worry about it... but hey im a paranoid person lol

I'm considering buying a 93 2+0 NA, when I test drove it I heard an odd clacking sound coming from what sounded like the center console. At first I thought it might be a driveshaft issue, however it only does it VERY briefly at approx 2k rpms, and the amount of throttle doesn't seem to affect it. Any ideas what might cause that?

Lifter ticking is common. Run down to NAPA and get a bottle of Lubegard engine treatment, I used the 15oz size, there is a 10oz also, like 16 bucks. add to motor oil and have it quiet things down, amazing stuff. Synthetic sperm whale oil, I am not kiddin.... jump on their web site. This stuff is endorsed by many large auto transmission builders , ect. Worked for mine. The manual trans additive works great too. I use their power steering and coolant add too...

that or i read on another site one member used some 20w-50 oil. gonna try that for next oil change.

lifter ticks are common but this happend to me once same problem from like 2k to 4k just started happing to me and it was a close time to change the oil so i changed it and it stoped so i am not sure what it was but that worked.

when ever mine started doing this i checked oil and if its low i would add some and that would stop my ticking then in a month or so it would start ticking again and did the same and it would stop...i have been told its nothing major and it hasnt givin me any probs... sound like the same problem i had you give it a little gas the ticking speed up right? give it a try let me know...lol makes my day to help someone out...lol

Lifter ticks would sound like they are coming from the bottom of the engine right? I would say exhaust leak also on this but then Im far from an expert, has it ever been near hydro locking, or gotten any water in the engine? IF so you could have a lightly bent piston rod which will cause a upper engine tick, and could lead to more serious problems later as the head will start to get chipped. Again no expert this may not be it, but something to consider.

so i tried the 20w-50 oil change and it didnt work ticking noise still keeps going.... i thought it kould be the oil pump but i just found out that 20- 15 psi is normal right....
