I just pulled the EPROM chip out of a mates CA ECU, and loaded it up into rom editor.....and it looks very wierd compared to the other ones ive seen......here it is for anyone interested:http://www.geocities.com/datsu...U.BIN

It's a #64.......and MEC-D001 ( I had only heard of MEC-D016B (japanese manual ecu) and the MEC-D015 (japanese auto ECU) )any ideas what it is?

Here is a pic for anyone that doesn't have RomEditor.....http://www.geocities.com/datsu...p.bmp

The red map is a comparison ( My standard ECU map....and also the same as the standard one you get from boostcruising website ), and the green map is the wierd one that I'm unsure as to why it is so far different? It could be a NZ new ECU....but it looks VERY different to me?

cheersDan

Could it be the "limp mode" curve from a standard ECU?...that was somehow copied onto a "tuned" chip? Could it be a custom "valet mode" chip for use in a dual chip setup? (thats all I got for now)

I very much doubt it unless someone went to extraordinary efforts to re solder in the chip to the board, cover it with that glue stuff, and make it look just like a factory one!I de-soldered the chip myself, and have been the only one to play with it so far as I know.it looks identical to my own chip, same sticker e.t.c.......just slightly different numbers.

I was following your thread and I was very much curious to see why two supposedly identical ecus have two different maps, I couldn't come out with any answers, but now since you mentioned it, it makes perfect sense.

Good finding man,

I know!it makes perfect sense!and also is better to have the NA map. because it's for my mates supercharged CA18....so we need a NA map for when the SC is turned off, and a DET map for when it's on.....so it turned out great!
