my car recently began making a weird clicking noise from just under the valve cover. it is constant, sounds like one cam lobe is smacking the bucket really hard (but that can't be it). it doesn't sound like bad lifters.when i took the valve cover off, i couldn't see anything wrong but i did notice some wierd *** nicks in the shaft between two lobes. i don't remember those being there but they could have been. they were like five dents equally spaced apart. i dont know what they are or what they're from or if they have anything to do with the clicking. the rest of the shaft is undamaged and there's no loose piece anywhere.any ideas?

nope, replaced those in july.

the noise started right when it started getting cold. probably just a coincidence, but maybe it's a factor.

maybe time to re-evaluate your oil viscosity, the temperature change seems to have started this right?

It's a KA I assume:confused: If it's got hydraulic lifters one may be bad, I had a bad lifter on one of my RBs that would periodically bleed down and clatter. I use Mobil 1 15W50 exclusively but it is consistently hot as crotchpot cookin round here so I don't have to go light in the winter.

"clean R30" you don't want to see mine, it's rusting to the ground:( I deserve a sound spanking, any NICO cuties up for it?

I scrapped my Silvia and I will be scrapping a rattletrap R30 soon. That leaves me with an RX7, my rusty R30, my bike and a recently aquired GTS-T. I am getting a Haltech to fire up the 7 so I can get it sold and the GTS-T is a solid daily driver so by summer I hope to be knee-deep in the resto of the R30
