anybody know what is the widest rear wheel that can be fitted on the J30?

i was considering a 17X8 inch wheel with 255/40-17 tires.

i dont really want to go larger than 17 inches, i think its the best size as far as balanced looks.

what is the widest rear wheel/tire combo, and at what offset?

I have 235/45/17 - I don't think there'd be clearance issues with a 255

yeah. the 255's should fit. i was searching about it, and last year, a member said that he fit 275 rears. i tried emailing him but he didnt get back to me.

i was just wondering if anybody knew off hand what the widest wheel was [say, 8.5 inches] and the offset.

255's will fit. I'm running 17x8 with 235/45/17 I think. I want to go up a step, 245's maybe.

Some Nitto NT 555Rs would be sweet. 275/40R17s in the back and 245/45R17s up front would make the J look mean!

The senior mechanic at my Infiniti dealer and the service rep at the big custom tire and wheel place up here both suggested for me not to bigger than 16 inch rims on my J30t since I have the super hicas 4 wheel steering system. Both told me rims larger than 16 inches can permanently damage the system and/or make it dangerous and also give me a large repair bill. This info may affect you if you own a J30t with super hicas?

As long as you find some light wheels you'll be ok. The stockers are already pretty light. Some Volks, or SSR's. Pricey but worth while.I'll have to check w/Tirerack for the offset.

hey mayhem, do you think a 9 inch wide wheel would fit in the j's rear wheel well? [17x9 rear, 17x8 front]

nope, stock height. i just want to know if i can fit a 9 inch in the rear fender.

im not really looking to lower at all, i just want a 17x8 in the front, and a 17x9 in the rear without it sticking out.

also, would you have a recommendation for the offset of those sizes. im not going lower, i just dont want them to protrude.

Tirerack shows 17x8's available for your car, check out some of the OZ Racing's. They have a nice fitment section on thier site.

i wasnt looking at tire rack, because i didnt see anything i liked.

im going with the 5Zigen Typhoon in gunmetal or silver 17x8, 17x9R

there a good price, i love the style wheel, $220 each.

Ah, but they are spun forged and probably have more strength and durability from which a heavy J30 could benefit. You receive a product commensurate for what you pay, usually.

Was just suggesting tirerack & OZ site's as fitment guides. If they're willing to seel you a 17x8, then you should be comfortable that they will fit.

Good Luck
