You can easily fit a 225 width tire on the stock rims.

It won't be square... you will see less performance from the tire because it will be puffed out in the sidewalls. Plus, for the tire to fit on the wheel you need a fairly tall sidewall, which diminishes the accuracy of the speedo along with creating a rubbing issue on some peoples' cars.

225/50 is OEM diameter, and fits fine.

EDIT - I was thinking 16" rims.

I wouldn't go beyond 215/55 on OEM rims.

hate to argue with a mod, but a 225/50/16 will fit a 16x6 and the revs per mile count is only lower by 3 vs. a 205/55/16, so the spedo is accuate, plus the 225 size has more selection of hard core performance/compitition tires as well.

Ruf - We're talking 15" rims - I made the same mistake.

My OEM S14 rims are 16". Do the non-SE models come with smaller rims?

I never said it wouldn't fit... but I did say the performance aspect when compared to the 205/55/16 is very very very minimal at best. The only benefit to the larger tire is the increase in load rating.

If you want a hardcore street tire, then get the Falken Azenis Sport 215 in the 205/55/16 sizing. You'd be hardpressed to find a streetable compound tire that offers more cold temp grip.

Stock wheels are 16x6.5 BTW.
